ABOUT ABOUT

OPEN TO NER SHALOM MEMBERS ONLY

Join Rabbi Irwin Keller and local organizer Ma’ayan Pe’er, outside in the Ner Shalom Courtyard, as they share a cup of tea and discuss Ma’ayan’s personal journey from growing up in an Israeli emigre family to being a pro-Palestinian activist and a local organizer with Jewish Voice for Peace. This is an opportunity to understand better what the new generation of justice-driven Jews mean when they say “anti-zionist” and to find what vision we share with each other, even if we identify differently.

Ma’ayan Pe’er (they/she) is 25 years old, a trans girl, ashkenazi, and antizionist Jew. She was raised on Ohlone Land (Santa Clara County) by two Israeli born zionist jews. Ma'ayan has been on a journey of self discovery for the past 7 years. Questioning their alignment and connection to Zionism (and Israel) and also discovering their queerness. Coming from a secular zionist household, with close family living in Tel Aviv, and with grandparents who survived the Holocaust, she feels well positioned, and is excited, to speak to other Jews about Antizionism.

Seating is limited. In person only.
