ABOUT ABOUT

Shavuot marks the time of the giving of Torah at Mt. Sinai. On this day of Shavuot - Rabbi Shefa Gold will lead a multi-generational, outdoor Shavuot experience, open to all, in West Sonoma County. Rabbi Shefa is well known in as a pioneer in the use of Hebrew chant as a modality for healing, contemplation, community building and ongoing spiritual practice.

Sponsored by Zmanim, Congregation Ner Shalom and B'nai Israel Jewish Center, this event will provide adults an opportunity for deep learning and Jewish experience while children have their own outdoor, Shavuot-connected experience tailored to their needs.

When we received Torah at Mt. Sinai, it was not an intellectual experience. Torah describes it as tremendous and visceral. So how can we reconnect with revelation as something that big and deep, as something we experience with our full bodies and spirits?

Through Rabbi Shefa's skilled guidance, together with magnificent surroundings outside of Occidental where there are open fields, forested hikes, and even a small “mountain” (really, a hill) to climb, we have the unique opportunity this Shavuot to embody a fuller Sinai experience, opening our hearts, souls and bodies to the Torah that we each can receive.

Meanwhile, children will have their own nature experience led by Wilderness Torah educator Rebecca Schisler.

~This event involves moderate walking on uneven terrain.
