Yes, we know that every Shabbat is musical at Ner Shalom. But this week we enjoy a visit from special guest (and Reb Irwin’s good friend), Cantorial Soloist Jessalynn Levine.
Jessalynn, Reb Irwin, and the Good Shabbos band will offer musical selections from composers Max Janowski, Shir Yaakov Feit, Daphna Rosenberg, Lorenzo Valensi, and Reb Irwin and Jessalyn themselves.
Jessalynn Levine is a leader of Jewish spiritual experiences through music as well as a professional choral conductor, singer, and educator. She completed the “Davvenen’ Leadership Training Institute,” a part of ALEPH: The Alliance for Jewish Renewal and was one of ALEPH’s inaugural class of Kesher Fellows. Jess served as cantorial soloist, co-conspirator of liturgy, and high holy days music director at Temple Sinai in Houston for over ten years, where she also co-founded a local niggun circle. As a music educator, Jess served as a high school choir director in the Houston area for five years. She currently teaches gender-affirming private voice lessons for speaking and singing and will graduate in May 2022 with her masters degree in choral conducting from San Jose State University
