ABOUT ABOUT

“Barbara Higbie is one of the most exciting musicians I have heard, full of life and brilliant in her playing.”—Phil Elwood, S.F. Examiner/Chronicle.

The Cotati Cabaret at Ner Shalom is excited to present multi-talented singer/composer Barbara Higbie, in an intimate and rare North Bay solo appearance on June 2 at 7:30PM.

Higbie, a Windham Hill and Olivia Records artist, has performed on more than 100 albums and has played with artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Bobby McFerrin, and Carlos Santana. Her albums have sold in the millions.

She has received rave reviews from the Boston Globe, the Los Angeles Times and the Oakland Tribune, among others.  Her 2 CD’s with singer-songwriter Teresa Trull on Olivia/Second Wave and Slowbaby Records have won critical acclaim and a large nationwide following.

Opening for Hibgie will be Sonoma County's own Nancy Vogl and Suzanne Shanbaum, original founders of the Berkeley Women's Music Collective & The Polkanomics.

Higbie, as a cofounder, with Darol Anger, of the acoustic super group, “Montreux”, recorded “Live at the Montreux Jazz Festival” for Windham Hill Records in 1984, a landmark genre defining album. She continued to tour world-wide with “Montreux” until leaving to pursue a solo career.

As a solo artist, Barbara’s first solo CD “Signs of Life” was named a Washington Post “Top Ten of the Year”. Three other solo releases, “I Surrender”, “Variations on a Happy Ending” and ‘Alive in Berkeley” followed to critical acclaim.
