Paint, Pray, Love: a 3 session Tallit workshop (third session date TBD)

By Ner Shalom (other events)

2 Dates Through Aug 29, 2019

ABOUT ABOUT

Donning a tallit, or Jewish prayershawl, can be a transformative spiritual experience for your personal prayer and meditation. Wearing one that you create yourself is even more powerful!

Come join us in community to learn about the beautiful mitzvah of wearing a tallit in prayer, and to create your own richly painted silk tallit using lustrous, delicious silk charmeuse fabric!

This workshop will be held in three sessions, taught by Stephanie Brown, Ner Shalom member and former owner of Simcha Silks. No prior experience needed. Limited to 8 people. Held at "Unfold Your Creative Spirit" art studio at Ner Shalom.

Want to create a tallit out of another material? Not into painting? Write to Stephanie at [email protected]. (Reduced rate may be available if you bring your own fabric.)

Cost (including materials and sewing): $95 for Ner Shalom members; $115 for others. Add a tallit bag for an additional $25.

Session 1: Tuesday, August 27th, 10:00 am - noon.

Session 2: Thursday, August 29th, 10:00 am - noon

Session 3: TBD by class participants. This session is for the tying of tzitzit, or ritual fringe.

This class is an offering of Ner Shalom's Beit Midrash Lifelong Jewish Learning.
